Sarah Deeter

I was born in Chicago and grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. For college, I attended the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) where I met my husband Kirk. As a life-long learner, I have studied at Michigan, University of St. Andrews (Scotland), University College London, Rider University, La Salle University, and Regis University, where I received my Masters in Education degree. After graduating with a degree in economics from Michigan, Kirk and I moved to Philadelphia and had careers in corporate communications and finance. After about a decade, we decided to move to the mountains of Colorado. He became an author and editor, and I became a teacher. We also became parents and adopted our son Paul in 2000 from Guatemala.

I have worked in the Jeffco School District since 2005, and at RMAE since 2015. I love the Core Knowledge curriculum, community of students, parents, and colleagues, and beautiful setting that makes RMAE stand out as a school.

I am from Cheyenne, Wyoming and moved to Colorado during elementary school.  My husband and I had always wanted to move to the mountains, and were thrilled to realize our dream in December of 2017.

I originally went to Colorado State University to become a veterinarian.  After graduation with a Bachelor's degree in large animal biology and reproductive health, I re-entered school to study elementary education.  I received my undergraduate degree from University of Northern Colorado and my Master's degree in Science Education from Walden University.

I have been teaching since 2007, and look forward to the excitement each year!
