Good Morning,  you may have noticed some small bones in a baggie come home yesterday!! That was our Owl Pellet dissection getting ready for the Field trip to Look out Mountain Nature Center this Friday!!
1.  Friday, 5/17  Field trip to Nature Center 10-12, we will come back to school to eat lunch.  
2.  Monday, 5/20  REGULAR DAY
3.  Tuesday, 5/21  Please have your child wear their swimsuit under comfy clothes for hiking to Buchanan.  Small backpacks would be good with water, sack lunch, one snack, towell, goggles etc.  Please pick them up between 2:30-2:45, or just come and hang out with us on the patio.  If you need your child to be picked up by someone else please make your own arrangements.  
4.  Wednesday, 5/22  BRING A BAG TO SCHOOL, we will be cleaning out their desks today in the afternoon.  Any school supplies you would like them to donate will be collected, otherwise I will send them all home today.  
5.  Thursday, 5/23  HALF-DAY,  Free Dress, classroom awards, bring a card/small game to school, assembly at 10:30-12 on the field for awards etc.

April 26 to end-of-year:
1.  Thu. Apr. 25  Spelling HW due/Spelling test.  
2.  Fri. Apr. 26,  CSD, please have your student wear a "Spirit T-shirt" or a green T-shirt with free dress bottoms.  Good shoes for walking outside, hat, and sweatshirt for outdoor activities.

4.  Fri. May 3, Carnival 5:30-7
5.  Fri. May 17, Field Trip to Lookout Mountain Nature Center 10-12, lunch back at school.  Swim4LIfe safety talk by Courtney McLaurin 2:00-2:45 in Narans' room, parents are invited to attend.
6.  Tue. May 21 - End-of-Year Swim Picnic at Buchanan, students wear swim suit under hiking clothes, we hike at 10:15 through Elk Meadow to Buchanan Rec Center, arrive 11am, bring a snack/ sack lunch/water/towel in back pack.  Afternoon treat will be supplied, parents pick up student between 2:30-2:45 at Buchanan parking lot.  You are all invited to hike over or spend the day with us on the patio out back.  Cost is $5, please turn in cash to Mrs. Narans.  
7.  Wed. May 22 (back-up picnic day if rain in forecast) otherwise bring a recycle bag to school for cleaning and supplies, last full day.
8.  Thu. May 23 HALF-DAY for students, games and farewell!!

Here are the updates: Mar. 11-April 4
1.  Regular Reading Street next week,  Begin Chapter.10 in math
2.  CMAS testing Mar. 18, 19, 20 (reading)  and Apr. 2, 3, 4 (math)  please make sure your student get plenty of rest the night before testing, a good breakfast, and just overall good health so they will do well on the test.

Dear Parents:  Here are the updates for Feb. 11-22
1.  Monday is Native American Day - Plays will begin at 9:45-10:15 in the 2rd grade classroom.  Centers will be from 10:15-11:45 then they will go straight to lunch.  Native American Homes/report are due, please take them down to the 2nd grade classroom and put on empty desks.  
2.  Students may wear Native attire throughout the day if they so desire.
3.  The next Reading Street will take two weeks to complete, so their spelling homework and spelling test are not due until Fri. 2/22.
4.  Wed. 2/13  Half-day of school , noon dismissal, morning snack only.
5.  Thu. 2/14  Full-day,  Valentine party in the afternoon, no afternoon snack needed due to the party.  Bring 17 valentine cards unlabeled, students will make a valentine bag in class.  They may dress in holiday attire.  
6.  Fri. 2/15 NO SCHOOL
7.  Mon. 2/18 NO SCHOOL
8.  Fri. 2/22  Field trip to Hiwan Homestead Museum.  We can take 6 parents with us if you are interested the first 6 to email will be notified.  We leave school at 9:30 and return by 12:15, so they will eat lunch upon return to school.  If your child had hot lunch they will get a lunch to bring to the classroom to eat.  We will eat a morning snack before we go.

The Canned Food Drive to benefit ECHO will be Jan. 22 - Feb. 4.  Boxes will be placed outside your classroom for can collection.  Student council will come and collect the cans daily.
Here is a list of what each grade level will be collecting.  Of course if your students bring in other items they will be welcomed!!

  My Math group started chapter 7 for the new quarter.

3.  Costumes on Wed. must not cover head or face, appropriate, and regular shoes due to PE.
4.  Thur. Nov. 1 all students must wear RED LOGO SHIRT, w/dresscode bottoms, and casual walking shoes.  Eat a good breakfast, no morning snack, bring a throw-away lunch to be eaten at museum, bring afternoon snack for return to school at 2pm.  

Dear Parents:  here are a few reminders:
1.  Tomorrow Fri. Oct. 19 FIELD DAY, purple T-shirt, sport shoes, sport pants, lunch only no snacks. (parents are invited to attend or help)
2.  Spelling Test first thing tomorrow morning.
3.  Next week: Reading Street "Prudy's Problem" regular schedule all week. 
4.  Fall Festival Party Wed. Oct. 31 - students may wear costumes to school, no masks, no extreme make-up, appropriate costumes - no fake blood etc.  Party will be from 12:30 - 2.
2:30-2:55 All school parade, everyone welcome. 
5.  Thursday Nov. 1 field trip to Denver Museum of Science and Nature, buses leave at 9ish.
All students need to wear their "RED LOGO" SHIRTS. Comfy walking shoes are advised. They also need a throw-a-way lunch to be eaten at the museum.  Morn. snack will be early or eat a good breakfast, afternoon snack will be upon arrival back to school at 2pm.

3.  Wed. Oct. 10  "FIELD DAY"  3rd grade wears purple shirt, sport pants/shorts, and sport shoes.  NO SNACKS, lunch only. POSTPONED UNTIL NEXT FRIDAY, OCT. 19.
4.  Thur. Oct. 11 "Spelling Bee" parents are welcome to attend.  8:30-?
5.  NO SCHOOL Fri. Oct 12
6.  Don't forget to bring your 3rd grader to their Conference!!
