A Message from the Principal

 Dear RMAE families,

It has been great to have all of our students back with us! Their positive vibe and energy has been infectious! We are honored you have chosen to share your thoughtful, caring, inquisitive, and conscientious kids with us. Naturally with so much being new this year including technology, COVID, PikMyKid, and a bear family there were some challenges. However, with the spirit of collaboration, grace, and understanding, there were many more successes than not. Please know we are continually reflecting and tweaking to create the best educational experience possible. Our bear visitors were around because it is so dry they are looking for food. Unfortunately, the condo up the road did not have a secure dumpster. This created a fine dining opportunity.  The dumpsters are now secure but it will take a bit for them to realize the restaurant is closed.  So that we don't do anything to attract and potentially cause the bears harm, our students will be eating lunch inside the classrooms for the next two weeks.  The bears will relocate themselves in search of food elsewhere. Given our recess protocol and noise level, the wildlife officer said we may continue with outside recess. We will add additional supervision and as always be extremely diligent in keeping our students safe.

We continually adjust the pickup process so it will go smoother and we need your help. If you are picking up multiple children, come at the latest release time. For example, if you are picking up a 2nd and 6th grader, arrive at 3:15 (the 6th grade release time). Arriving earlier adds to a backlog in the pickup line. If you are picking up one student, please do not arrive before the release time. Students will be released  at the regularly scheduled time: k-2 @ 2:55, 3-5 @ 3:05, and 6-8 @ 3:15. Thank you for all you do to support RMAE. More than ever, this is a true collaborative effort. We look forward to another great week!

Your Proud Principal,
Dr. Ann Hudson
