Campus Happenings
The Scouts of RMAE would like to thank the RMAE community for their generous contributions to the Echo Bank Food drive last week.  RMAE contributions totaled 265 lbs of food.  This contribution helped the Girl Scouts raise almost 1000 pounds of food and we have over $500 that was donated to purchase more.  Thank you!!!
7th graders are doing a unit on observational drawing. They've been practicing in their sketchbooks for several weeks- the idea is to draw what you see, not what you know; looking closely at objects that are in front of you, not at photos.
The second graders used newspaper and blocks to build The Great Wall of China for a STEM project to go along with their study of Ancient Asia.
7th Grade designed, built and programmed RC robots to crawl.

4th Grade designed, built, and tested water rockets with deployable parachutes.
Important Updates and Information
Empty Mint Tins- Ms Pumphrey would like to put out a request for empty Altoids Mint tins for an upcoming art project. She is specifically looking for the larger Altoid tins, not the teeny tiny ones. If you have some, please send them in with your student to give to Ms Pumphrey.

Congratulations!!!  Mr Dunbar was awarded a $500 grant from the Westerra Credit Union.  This will fund the purchase of additional Hummingbird kits for the Robotics Program.

COVID Testing- helpful information shared with us by a parent who was on a quest to get a covid test that we wanted to pass along.
  • Call your pediatrician/PCP.
  • The Tricounty health website has a map of all testing sites in the metro Denver area (including Jefferson County).  There is a list of the free ones below the map.  https://www.tchd.org/827/Free-COVID-19-Testing-Sites.  The Mako testing sites may have some kind of reservation system (link to their website is on the Tricounty health page free testing site list).
  • Some urgent care facilities only make covid testing appointments on a day by day basis.  Calling as soon as they open to try to get an appointment is advised.  Other urgent cares have an online appointment system, but they are booked several days to a week out.
  • Safeway in Evergreen sells take home saliva testing kits that you send in to a lab yourself.
Volunteer Opportunities
Shovel Crew
On school mornings when we have more than 2 inches of accumulated snow, extra hands to help clear paths, walkways and stairs around campus would be greatly appreciated!
Facilities Committee
The Facilities Committee is always looking for volunteers: Skilled tradespersons in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC or a general knowledge in construction would be beneficial. Committee meets once a month during the school year.

Board of Directors (BOD) Updates and Information
The RMAE Board met on Thursday, November 12 and had the opportunity to go over a lot of positive news from RMAE. First and foremost, the Board wishes to thank everyone who participated in the Annual Giving campaign. It was enormously successful and will serve our school well in the coming months. The Board also voted unanimously to donate $1,000 to Mountain Youth Musicals. A number of our faculty and families are involved with MYM. In the past we have been able to donate space for rehearsals, but COVID restrictions have made that impractical, so this financial donation replaces that. The Board also approved the official budget for the year to be submitted to Jeffco. The Board also approved a 3% bonus for all teachers and is continuing its work on an additional sick leave policy.

The Board will meet again tonight for a Special Session to address the recent Jeffco decision to go fully remote and how our school community will move forward.  The Zoom link to attend the meeting and the agenda are posted on the RMAE website and school calendar prior to the meeting.

November Core Virtues: Gratitude and Wonder

Gratitude is thankfulness for the gift of life and the gifts in life.
Wonder is to marvel at mystery and stand in awe before the unexplained.
